The morning sun shone strongly down from between a few puffy white clouds, warming Greypaw's dark fur. He had just finished his breakfast, and was stretched out near the apprentice den. He had been a part of the clan long enough to understand most of their customs and usually remembered to follow them, even though some of them held no meaning to him personally. He supposed in time he would have an emotional attachment to the clan's rituals and customs like an other clan cat, but for now he did as he was told and held his tongue. He did not want the clan to know that he was even more of an outsider then he already was. He had not even told his mentor, Iceclaw about his thoughts on the clan's rules. He saw no reason to give any cat a reason not to trust him. He felt loyal to Shadowclan already, but more towards the cats themselves then to this 'starclan' he had heard about. He had never actually mustered up the courage to ask about 'starclan'. He didn't want to offend anyone by accidentally insult their beliefs.
Now thinking of Iceclaw, Greypaw wondered where his mentor was, and if he had anything planned for the day. Closing his eyes and letting the sun fill his pelt with warmth, Greypaw decided that if Iceclaw wanted him he would come to find him. Nothing in camp seemed like in needed to be done, he had taken the elders freshkill with Webaw before he had even sniffed at a piece for himself, and they had brought fresh moss in a few days again. Greypaw tried to think of other apprentice duties that he might have forgotten to do, but none crossed his mind and he sunk in to a light doze. His imagination led him to the marshes, chasing mice, and birds.
